Franklin Room History
The Franklin room, built by Helmuth sometime between 1942 and 1950, originally served as a cozy space named after the Franklin stove, which provided warmth to the room. Over time, the Franklin room was converted into two rooms, becoming the Franklin Building. Part of this structure housed Edith O’Ryan, the Deetjens’ cherished accountant and friend, in what is now Edy’s room. Today, the Franklin room and its adjoining spaces preserve the Inn’s unique blend of history and rustic charm, honoring the warmth and community fostered by the Deetjens and those who lived and worked here.
