Deetjen’s Inn invites you to relax in comfortable, rustic rooms on the edge of the redwood forest in Big Sur.
Before Highway One was completed in 1937, Castro Canyon was a traditional stopover for travelers along the coastal wagon road. When Helmuth and Helen Deetjen began welcoming guests in the 1930s, Deetjen's Inn was born.
A Big Sur Experience Like No Other
Year round, the Inn's well-tended gardens bloom and the Castro Canyon waterfall splashes into the creek. Our guests often say that a visit to Deetjen’s feels like coming home.

The rustic rooms, lack of cell service or wifi invokes a sense of place and time from a bygone era.
